Best Ever Lemon Cookies

Yield: 2 dozen @ 4"

Time: 10 minutes

These lemony cookies are just like grandma made.


2 ¼ Cups     All-purpose flour
1¼ tsp          Baking powder
¾ tsp            Kosher salt
10 T              Butter, softened
1 Cup           Cream cheese
1¼ Cup        Sugar, granulated
2                   Eggs
1T                 Lemon zest
¼ Cup          Fresh lemon juice
2 tsp             Vanilla extract
10 Drops      Yellow food color
¾ Cup           Powdered sugar


  1. Whisk first 3 dry ingredients in a medium bowl.

  2. In a large bowl beat softened butter and cream cheese with sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

  3. Beat in eggs, lemon zest, juice, vanilla and coloring. Then lightly beat in dry ingredients until just combined. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate about 2 hours or overnight, till firm.

  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, preheat oven to 325° and scoop batter into 2-inch rounds. place 2-inches apart on pan.

  5. Place powdered sugar on a plate and roll every ball returning it to its place. Let sit for 2 minutes then re-roll (do not shake off excess).

  6. Bake 18-20 minutes until cookies crackle and are slightly soft in the center.

  7. Let cool on rack.
